April 3 is the last day to register to vote in Washington’s Town Council Elections, which will be held on May 3. All current Town Council members are running unopposed for their seats. The current makeup of the Washington Town Council is : Mayor Eugene Leggett, Vice Mayor Reinhardt Lynch, Treasurer Jerry Goebel, Alice Butler, Jeff Benson, Claudia Mitchell, and Jean Goodine. Citizens of Washington can register to vote at the Office of the Registrar in Washington.

The Rappahannock County Planning Commission met on Wednesday March 15. The commission voted to recommend approval on two private efficiency apartments. The applications had been brought by Patil Pandit of Narmada Vineyard and Erwin and Elizabeth Opitz of Flint Hill respectively. No members of the public opposed or endorsed the apartments. The Planning Commission also began discussion of possible changes to the application requirements , but no changes were made at the meeting. Possible changes to the application submission requirements may come under review this summer.
