The Rappahannock County School Board tightened their belts at their March 21 public hearing. They passed a budget seeking a smaller increase in spending than just about any public school board in Virginia. The five members of the Rappahannock County School Board looked out at a sparselyattended public hearing on the budget— nine adults and two small children in the audience — and voted unanimously to ask for nearly $8,000,000 in county funds. With expectations of more than $3,000,000 from the Commonwealth, plus monies from federal agencies and other sources, the bottom line became $11,732,992.
