xiicjr »ay uie acorn aoesn t fall far from the tree. I’ve heard this before. Heard my father say it. But, the underlying weight of the statement never really struck me like it did one spring day on a Rappahannock trout stream. I have been fishing this stream with and without my father for my entire life. The first trout to ever take my hook was a resident of this stream. I still treasure it today.

Surprisingly enough, when people walk into “my room,” as my wife likes to call our basement, the first fish to gamer a comment is this diminutive native trout mounted on an old slab of the once dominant, now all but extinct, American Chestnut.
