As I scrambled along the rocks landing a trout here and there, my father, right in tow, declined time and time again to take a turn casting to the willing brookies.
“Happy to be watching.” and “Having more fun watching you catch them.” He recounted a story about how his father used to watch him fish on this very river and how his father was, “Happy to be watching,” and, “Having more fun watching you catch them.”
The acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree. But, the acorn wasn’t me. It was my father.
