“She’s probably smarter than the two of use combined,” laughed the two parents together as they described how quick a mind Sidney has.

“Many children who have cerebral palsy also have some mental problems,” ' said Greg Dodson, “but in Sidney’s case, she’s got an active mind but it’s trapped in an infant’s body.”

Last year, the Dodson’s took Sidney to Poland where she worn a special suit that helped her but this recent trip to Georgia proved far more satisfying for everybody - but at a cost.

At a price tag of roughly $12,000 for their three-week stay, the center recommends that Sidney go four times a year.

“We just can’t do that,” sighed Shelly Dodson, “but we are hopeful we can return in October. She’s met a friend there, Emily, and would like to see her again.”

For Sidney and her parents it was well worth it.

They’ve come back with training books and a rigorous exercise routine that includes two hours a day and 60 situps each night for Sidney. It takes both parents to help her with the exercises which will gradually build up and
