Born on the Cannon farm in Castieton as Clara Marie, most of us know her as Marie Atkins. While Irving on the farm, her parents, the late Mr., and Mrs. Ray Frazier, purchased and moved to their farm in Boston where she grew up and would help her parents operate the farm far many years.

Marie attended Salem High School where she graduated as the 4 Salutatorian of her class. At that time Salem was a two-year high school. Two years later she graduated from Ann Wingfield High School in Culpeper. Today she is still wearing the same class ring.

She became a member of Black Oak Regular Baptist Church in August 1945, and has held various jobs in the church. At present, Marie teaches a Sunday School class, serves as secretary and treasurer of the activity fund and is also the church reporter.

Marie is also the clerk of the Ketocton Association of Regular Baptist Churches. They hold an annual two-meeting in August.

Marie was married to the late Alvin Atkins who was the first custodian at Rappahannock High School when it opened in 1959. He later retired from the school in 1974, and Marie being hired by the late Superintendent Norton, worked with him from 1968 until 1974. She resigned the job when he retired.

Then it was back to farm life as they had a garden, cattle, hogs and poultry to care for daily Marie joined the Ladies Auxiliary in Spenyville
