Oasis Winery in Hume will host a Blessing of the Vines ceremony Saturday, Aug. 25. While the vineyard has been hosting the event annually throughout, its 30-year history, the tradition itself dates back centuries.

The Blessing of the Vines at Oasis “started as something just for family and friends,” said owner Tareq Salahi, noting that his parents, Dirgham and Corinne Salahi, hosted the first event in their inaugural year in business. As more people learned about the event, the family received more requests to attend. Eventually, it became a ticketed event, Salahi said. “It has evolved into a signature event for the winery” he said, but added, “We keep it intimate, no more than 50 to 100 guests.
