Old and fat

I have to tell you thin quick story about Mychal, Kelly’s five year old. He was named after the fire hall priest who was lolled in the 911 attacks, and his name is pronounced "Michael.” There was apparently some disagreement one evening around Mychal’s bedtime. Mychal got upset and, to make a long story short, told Kelly she was old and fat.

Now, Kelly is a tall blonde lady without an ounce of fat on her, and she is. far from being old. But, Mychal’s comment, as you would imagine, was quite upsetting to her, and she let him know it. Later, Mychal came around to give Brandon a hug goodnight, and Brandon told him he had better apologize for what he had said.

Mychal, possibly not understanding ’‘apologize,* paused, and looked at Brandon, and Brandon repeated, you had better say you are sorry for what you said.

The rest of the story was relayed to us when Kelly came back from putting Mychal to bed. Brandon asked if Mychal had told her he was sorry, and Kelly replied, “Yes. He said, 1 am sorry you are old and fat.” As Art Linkletter used to say, kids say the damdest things.

And, then, there is Charlie, my friend, originally from Newfoundland, and his wife, Betty, who spend about six months of the year at their place at Three Bears Camp. There are few days when Charlie and Betty don't go - fishing. I made my reacquaintance with Charlie on Sunday. When I saw him on Monday, with his rod and reel in his hand, I asked, “Charlie, how are you doing today?*

His response was, “Don’t know. Ain’t been fishing yet*
