Early's Carpet, which is located less than a half-mile west of Mayhugh’s, was burglarized on Nov. 7 and again on Nov. 24. The person or persons responsible for those crimes broke in through the front door and took cash and checks from the store. Employees at Early's said Monday that they have not had any other problems or suspicious events since those incidents.
Smith would not comment on any possible connections between the Mayhugh’s burglary and those other crimes.
