A FINAL VISIT
Viewing of the body is a tradition reminiscent of “wakes,” where family and friends viewed the body between death and burial. Displaying the body in this manner plays an important role in helping family and friends of the deceased come to grips with their loss. While viewings once took place at the home of the deceased, today the funeral home is the preferred location, one or two days before the funeral. This viewing can be less formal than the funeral and provides family and fhends with an opportunity to reminisce about the deceased loved one. To personalize the viewing, we encourage playing music that was meaningful to the deceased, as well as displays of photographs that help in the remembrance.
