County and school officials met with Del. Todd Gilbert (R15) last Friday to discuss a legislative fix for the funding problems facing Rappahannock County public schools, Superintendent Dr. Bob Chappell reported. The meeting comes as the latest step in an effort to improve funding far Rappahannock schools while limiting tn-r payer responsibility.
Chappell said that he, Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors Chairman Bob Anderson and school board members Rosa Crocker and Wes Mills met with Gilbert at the Country Cafe in the Town of Washington. The county and school officials, most of whom serve on a team formed this past September to address school funding, presented Gilbert with a letter requesting legislation that would funnel more state dollars into Rappahannock schools, potentially reducing the amount of money needed from local tax dollars.
Gilbert represents Rappahannock County in the Virginia House of Delegates.
