A panel of local advocates spoke out on housing issues facing the elderly at a community forum last Monday night, with audience members joining in during an extended discussion session.
The event was hosted by the Rappahannock Community Housing Partnership, and coincided with the expansion of the initiative’s project to address housing needs in Rappahannock.
The partnership, which is spearheaded by the non-profit group Fauquier Housing Corporation, released analyses in mid-October of housing survey responses from employees at Rappahannock County public schools and the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office.
Since then, surveys have been distributed to fire and rescue personnel in the county, and on Monday were distributed to elderly residents. The housing initiative will conduct outreach in the coming weeks to make the surveys available to more seniors.
