A Christmas Concert entitled “Women of the Gospel” is planned for Saturday, December 8 at Rixeyville’s Wayland Baptist Blue Ridge Center. The featured performer is Missy Octavia Yates who will be singing a number of traditional Christmas songs, including some from her latest CD titled “Call on His Name.” Also performing for this special program of music and song in the gospel tradition will be well-known local area singers Laura Walker Nelson, Nan Butler-Roberts, Everetta Lewis,The Women In Worship Choir, Dr. Hortense Hinton, and Charleata Williams & Company.
The program is sponsored by Flint Hill resident Thomas C. Williams’ “Warming Hearts and Homes” Foundation which assists families in need, the elderly and the disabled. There is no admission charge but a free-will offering will be accepted.
The “Women in the Gospel” Concert at the Wayland Baptist Center, located at 15044 Ryland Chapel Road in Rixeyville, begins at 6:00 p.m.
