Mrs. Davis was elected to office in 1950, a time when women’s roles centered on home and children. Six other women were also elected simultaneously to form what became the first-in-thenation all-female government body.
During her presentation, Mrs. Davis brought back many memories of people and places in Rappahannock County including the now almost inconceivable revelation that the town had several grocery stores in the 1950s.
