Barbara is owner of Highlands Therapy Services, PC and also works
with Appalachian Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. Her knowledge base in the field of orthopedics is matched only by her care and compassion she brings to each person she treats. “Barbara is always seen with a smile,” notes Kimberly Clark, Administrator, “as she has a way in helping those improve their functional ability, following life altering events such hip or knee surgery, strokes, or other injuries and illnesses.”
Working with such seasoned rehab and nursing staff in a caring atmosphere, while improving the quality of life for short term rehab and long term care residents, is what has led Barbara to her greater presence at Valley. t Barbara received her Bachelor of Physical Therapy from Medical College of Georgia, in May 1991, and subsequently received her Master of Business Administration from East Tennessee State University and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University - Medical College of Virginia campus. Barbara and her husband Dr. Charles “Mike” Owens, a local Optometrist, live in Abingdon. Together, they enjoy mountain biking, hiking, antique shopping, and most importantly spending time with their family. It’s no wonder Valley staff is pleased to have Barbara a part of its professional family,
