Opera Singer To Present

National Anthem

Baritone Paul LaRosa will sing the National Anthem during the opening ceremonies of Saturdays Virginia Gold Cup races.

LaRosa's appearance is courtesy of the Chateauville Foundation located in Casdeton in Rappahannock County.

LaRosa, from Union, N.J., has just completed studies as a member of the luilliard Opera Center in New York and has entered the prestigious Ryan Opera Center at the Chicago Lyric Opera.

At Milliard he won wide acclaim in the New York press for his portrayals of Raimbaud in Rossini’s Le Comte Ory; the tide role in Ernst Krenek’s Schwergewicht and as Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff. \

LaRosa has been a member of the San Francisco Opera's Merola Program and the Glimmerglass Young American Artists Program. This summer, LaRosa will be one of the resident artists at the inaugural Casdeton Festival, under the artistic direction of Lorin Maazel.

“We are honored to have Paul LaRosa on site to sing the National Anthem at this year’s Virginia Gold Cup races," said Dr. William Allison, president of the Virginia Gold Cup Association. “I am so grateful to the Chateauville Foundation for helping with this opportunity."
