Rappahannock’s FHS (Future Homemakers Association) president Debbie Pullen says the recent convention in Roanoke was good because “basically you get ideas from other people there, the schools from the state got input from other schools- what they’re doing (that we can do) to make ours better,” she said. There were workshops to get ideas and Pullen says the local representatives brought back several good ones. The concept Debbie brought back that she’d like to try here is something called “Start.” It’s a competitive event during which students participate in mock job interviews. Winners go on through state and national contests.
Voters in the town of Washington will go to the polls on Tuesday, May l*,to elect a new mayor, treasurer and five council members for two year terms, the ballot for mayor is Peter Kramer, former head of the council. Also running without opposition is Bradford R. Fisher, incumbent town treasurer.
Reynolds, the first Rappahannock man across the line in last Saturday’s Fodderstack Classic, congratulated daughter Grace Reynolds on her finish. Reynolds won his fourth Eva L. Smith Memorial trophy with a time of 35:56, his best ever for the 10 Kilometer race.
