Last Friday was a busy day for the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office. Arrest after arrest, “offenders” were marched into the Rappahannock County courthouse on Gay Street, shackled, and soon were wearing jail orange.
However, these were not normal everyday arrests. These “offenders” were served “warrants” to benefit the American Cancer Society. The fundraising event called “Jail and Bail” was sponsored by the SherifF s Office’s Relay for Life team.
Warrants could be written on anyone and served on anyone for a $5 donation. According to Major Scott Jenkins of the Sheriffs Office “this is the first time we have done this event.”
