The new officials cleaned up and beautified the town, replaced light bulbs promptly, invited stray dogs to go elsewhere, and generally established good, practical management. Trash was removed and taken to a dump site for a small fee.
Town finances were in a quandary in 1950; there was no budget and the town water system was in receivership. The ladies developed a budget, paid off the, water system bonds, and sandblasted, cleaned, repaired and refilled the system’s reservoir.
