A report submitted to the planning commission by the Ad Hoc Committee on Mountainside Development was the topic of a lengthy public discussion, members Don Audetteand Pat Saltonstallwere present to answer any questions from the public and the community. They have been meeting since December on the subject. The report addresses issues related to development of mountaintop and mountainside areas in Rappahannock County.
The Rappahannock County Lions Club has completed this year's program of sight and hearing screening. The chairman for these services. Lion Bob Anderson, reported the accomplishment of “a record year.” The Lion Eye and Ear Van served the Rappahannock high school and the elementary school, Wakefield County Day School, Hearthstone School, The Child Care and Learning Center and the Senior Citizen Center. A team of 16 Lions and two volunteers contributed a total of 204 hours over a six-day period to complete 1,014 screenings, (both sight and hearing tests), for 995 students and 19 senior citizens.
