Rock-A-Thon
Nov. 18-19
Bring a rocking chair and come rock on November 1819 at the American Legion Hall in Culpeper from 5 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday. The FBLA Chapter at Piedmont Technical Education Center will be sponsoring the Second Annual March of Dimes Rock-A-Thon.
Persons who would like to be a rocker in the Rock-AThon or be a sponsor may contact Miss Blanton, Ms. Alliss, Mrs. Glass, or Mr. Moltz at PTEC. For further information, contact any of the above at 825-0476 after 3 p.m. Participants will rock in a rocking chair for a period of fifty minutes and then get a ten-minute break. Rockers are reminded to bring their own rockers. The public is invited to rock and refreshments will be served. Rockers will seek sponsors to pledge an amount for each hour they rock. For example, if someone pledges 10 cents for each hour rocked, and the rocker rocks for 10 hours, the total donation will be $1.
To this date the following have helped by donating to the Rock-A-Thon: Culpeper County: Vick’s Gardens Restaurant, Calvin’s Grocery, Colonial Print Shop, and Westside Grocery; Orange County: Eagles 5-10; and Madison County: Oak Hills Fruit Market. Schewel Furniture Out-Let Store is donating a rocking chair which will be given to the person who raises the most money.
All donations will be given to the March of Dimes in the Culpeper area. All donations will be appreciated. “Please come out And rock out birth defects,’’ ask sponsors of the event.
