A GOP spokesman said the campaign in the district, which includes Caroline, Hanover and Stafford Counties and the City of Fredericksburg, had not “come together” as he would have wished, but he still had hopes of picking up the seat.
The Republicans also believe they can knock off the incumbents in several Districts. One of these is the three-seat 40th District at Virginia Beach. Incumbent Democrats Owen B. Pickett, Bernard G. Barrow and Glenn B. McClannan face challenges from Republicans Knox R. Burchett and W. R. (Buster) O’Brien.
