The Blue Ridge Dog Training Club will hold its eighth tattoo clinic on Saturday, November 12 from 9 to 5\it Powhatan School in Boyce, y a. All dog owners are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to protect their pets. Appointments will be necessary.
Mrs. Nancy Mantlo of Richn^ond wiU again do the tattbdTriff. ""She uses no tranquilizers, as the procedure is virtually painless. Mrs. Mantlo takes approximately 20 minutes to tattoo the owner’s social security number on the dog’s inside right flank.
The fee for tattooing is $5 per dog. Registration of the owner’s social security number with the National Dog Registry in Carmel, N.Y. is strongly urged. There is a $25 one-time fee for this. Once your number is registered, it can be used for all the dogs you own during your lifetime. The NDR has an excellent record for returning lost dogs to their owners and is highly recommended by the Blue Ridge Dog Training Gub, the SPCA, and Action 81.
Tattooing is recognized as the most effective preventative measure against dognapping. There is little an owner can do to locate and recover a stolen dog unless the dog possesses this permanent means of identification. These tattoos are a court-accepted proof of ownership.

Wakefield Country Day School girls in the upper level will be hostesses for a tea on Friday, November 4 honoring the co-presidents of the Parents Association, Mrs. Fely Puray and Mrs. Margaret Huber. The tea will be held in the school’s auditorium and will begin at 2 p.m.
Wakefield’s junior varsity and varsity boys soccer teams put a stop to Powhatan School’s two and a half winning streak Friday when the score of the two matches were Wakefield 2, Powhatan 1 and 0-0, junior and varsity, respectively.
