In all, 10 Democrats, three Republicans and. one Independent will be giving up their seats, and the. state's GOP leadership sees this as opportunity to beef up, in at least a modest way, its admittedly anemic legislative delegation.
At the present time there are 79 Democrats, 17 Republicans and four independents in the House of Delegates. This year, the GOP has 54 candidates in the field, 14 of whom are incumbents.
