Culpeper Memorial Hospital following a long illness. A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Joseph Lewis Yowell and Mary Frances Lillard. He was a retired farmer and a member of F. T. Valley Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillie Coates Yowell; two daughters, Mrs. Carl McMillen of Upper Marlboro, Md.. and Mrs. Gordon B. Starr of Erie, Pa.; and a sister, Mrs. Samuel F. Padgett of Richmond.
Pallbearers were Earl Kilby, Carey Padgett, Billy Kilby, Mayo Yowell, Walter B. Kilby, Howard Padgett, Joel Byrd Yowell, and Everett Yowell.
Mrs. Poe
A funeral for Mrs. Mayo Bertha Poe of Amissville was conducted Sunday at the Amissville United Methodist Church, the Rev. Ray Crockett officiating with the Rev. Joseph S. Stirman, Jr., assisting. Burial followed in the family section of the church cemetery.
Mrs. Poe, 85, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 1977, at the Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton following a sudden illness.
She was the daughter of the late Walker Riley and Beanie Heflin Riley of Rappahannock County. She was married to the late John J. Poe.
Surviving are a son, Ronnie Poe of Amissville; three daughters, Miss Irva Poe and Mrs. Rena Corbin of Amissville and Mrs. Violet Welch of Arlington; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Poe was a lifelong member of the Amissville United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers were Stanish Riley, Earl Riley, Carlton Riley, Robert Hopkins, Jack Smith, and Lewie Smith.
