J. MARSHALL COLEMAN, Republican, 34, is a Staunton lawyer. He was US Magistrate for the Western District of Virginia 1971-72, a delegate to the General Assembly 1972-76, and is now a state senator. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Virginia and its law school, he was a US Marine Corps officer in 1967-70 and saw combat in Vietnam.
EDWARD E. LANE, Democrat, 53. has practiced law in Richmond since 1949. He is a grduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and the University of Richmond law school. A member of the Virginia House of Delegates since 1954, he has been chairman of the appropriations committee since 1973.
DELEGATES
Vying for the 25th Legislative District seat to the General Assembly are Democrat John “Butch" Davies III and Republican George Beard, both of Culpeper.
Both Delegate candidates are fighting for the seat vacated by French Slaughter.
Davies, who is the younger of the two candidates, is an attorney while Beard is a bank president.
