On Amissville

An Open Letter To The Board of Supervisors Reference: Rezoning Amissville, Virginia

We wish to make this letter brief and to the point. We are for rezoning Amissville to RB-1. However, the outline map being presented to the Board of Supervisors should not have your approval because it does not show or include the true picture of Amissville. It is ridiculous to attempt to confine development to a village if you are not including the whole village.

Early’s Carpet is not zoned RB-1. We are zoned A-l as the attached map (given to us in 1974) will prove. At this time we had to fight the zoning administration to erect a sign with our name. To our knowledge this zoning has not been changed since that date and the statement made by County Engineer, Fanning Baumgardner, as quoted in the Rappahannock News, dated 10-6-77, does not correspond with any records we have.

If there is to be any rezoning of Amissville, we will expect to be RB-1 and every other business should be included..

Knowledgeable people know that the growth over the years has always been on Route 211 and we feel that is where it should be contained but it must be properly planned. This map is very disciminating and we would urge the board to send it back to the Planning commission to be revised to include all of Amisville.
