Compensation Board authorities plan to go before the Legislature in January to request additional funds but until that time, will only reimburse localities for liability insurance coverage on the basis of last year’s payments—$75 per person. He noted that counties would probably be paid the $113 difference if the Compensation Board’s request for additional money is granted by the Legislature.
“It will cost $872.50 to renew our policy,” said Buntin, with the Compensation Board reimbursing the county for $254 of that amount.
“I don’t know that we have any alternative except not having any insurance,” commented Supervisor Butch Eastham in moving that the payment be authorized. With no further discussion,, the Supervisors voted unanimous approval.
In action that could be described as “better late than never,” the Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution, commending retired county clerk Ned Jones for his 14 years of loyal, efficient service to the Rappahannock County. Jones retired as clerk in June.
