Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Grigsby visited, in Fairfax, Mrs. Edwina Handel and Mr. and Mrs. Randolph E. Lee.

Dawn Kenyon of Boston, Va., spent Tuesday night with Julie Burke in her home, Sandy Hook, and was »i«n present to help celebrate Julie’s 11th birthday.

Park Visits Up

Hordes of tourists out to admire changing leaf colors raised the number of October visitors to Shenandoah National Park 7.9 per cent over October, 1976, according to statistics released by Park Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen.

Last October, 382,800 persons visited sites at Front Royal, Panorama, Big Meadows and Simmons Gap. The total for October, 1977, was 413,000.

In the calendar year through October, visits are also up with 2,897,900 compared to 2,515,200 for last year at the same time—an increase of 15.2 per cent.

Big Meadows Weather statistics for October are maximum temperature 70 degrees, minimum temperature 24 degrees, precipitation 4.79 inches and snowfall six inches.
