Republican candidate George Beard eking out a 39 ballot victory over Democrat John “Butch” Davies.
Davies conceded the election to Beard, saying that everyone should join forces, pull together and support Beard as Delegate.
More than 1600 voters went to the polls in Rappahannock, making the election a large turnout. Davies carried Rappahannock with 914 votes and Beard was given 708. Davies also carried Madison and Orange counties, in addition to Rappahannock, while Beard garnered his victory majority from Culpeper County, 3246 to Davies’ 2649.
