I am thankful to return to this beautiful county to live after living in other areas for the past 38 years.
Being a subscriber to the Rappahannock News for the past several years, and enjoying it very much, I realize Rappahannock County is no different from other places I have lived as far as problems the leaders have to decide about. They have to decide what is best for the people, county and country.
We as human beings create most of them ourselves, like the one we’re hearing so much about — trash — a big problem in our county and country. We throw it out wherever we go, not having enough pride to put it in the containers provided at different areas. If we carry it there, much is thrown out on the ground by people who do not bother to lift it three feet into the container.
After noticing the area at Amissville, seeing that for several months there is trash all around the container is bad enough, but the filth that someone has written on the containers is worse, and has been there for a long period of time.
I do think the trash company should be advised of it if they have not noticed, and told to paint over the words and keep the sides of the containers clear of this filth. Also keep the ground around clean even if we have to pay for it.
The containers are private property, I assume. There are ladies and children, as well as men, who carry trash there. For more pride and cleaner containers, I am,
