The most important part of a child’s self-concept is what his parents think of him, and the child’s selfconcept is a major factor in how the child acts, Mesinger said. Good behavior should be praised, he added.
“The current trend must be reversed if the schools are to provide an atmosphere on a daily basis which is conducive for teaching and learning,” said VEA President Mary Hatwood Futrell. “We call upon the community as a whole, parents in particular, to help bring violence and destructive behavior in the school under control. Teachers cannot do the job alone.”
