Wo all havo our favorites. Strawberry fans sing the praises of that luscious red berry. Grape afficionados rave about the wonders of concords. A legion of Johnny and Janey Appleseeds give their allegiance to the winesap, red and yellow delicious and the vork. Plum fanciers swear by the purple fruit. But at this time of year, it’s hard to beat a peach.
And it’s hard to find a fruit lover who won’t declare that peaches are the best after tasting a sweet and juicy sun high, red haven, jubilee, red hale, georgia belle or Washington. Webster’s Dictionary even gives erodance to the peach’s claim to top spot on the fruit pile, defining “peachy” as “unusually fine.”
