Needlework Exhibited
• A collection of North American Indian embroidery from wide ranging tribes will be featured at the Fourth Annual Oatlands Needlework Exhibition at the National Trust property near Leesburg, September 9 through 18. A Hopi Indian altar cloth, beaded Apache moccasins, moosehair embroidery from the Micmac tribe of Nova Scotia, and other beaded and feathered objects from the collection of the Smithsonian Institution will be displayed.
Of particular interest to doll house and miniature collectors will be a to-scale replica of the Shadows-onthe-Teche, the property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in New Iberia, Louisiana. The handiwork of R. Lee Taylor of Winchester, the Shadows comes complete with specially commissioned crystal chandelier and furniture by miniaturist Joe Murter.
Hours for the show are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for senior adults and youth 7-18; children under 7 are free.
