William and Doris Donald entertained about 30 people at a cook-out Saturday. This August cook-out on Aaron Mountain has become an annual event for the Capitol Chapter of Professional Secretaries, an association which counts Doris among its ranks.
Still hospitable on Monday (as ever) the Donalds invited Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Bowey from Amissville for lunch.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fridenstine recently returned from 17 days abroad. They visited Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Russia. Traveling with them were their two grandchildren, David and Lynn, from Lancaster, Va.
A cook-out at the Fraziers Sunday evening brought back those darling granddaughters. Karen and Kim Colvin from Rapidan and Shannon Tharpe from Culpeper as well as her baby sister, Tanya, were among those present. Waverly and Lillian also entertained: Ellen Horton from Culpeper, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Tharpe from Culpeper, Mr. and Mrs. Granville Colvin from Rapidan and Lennie Horton from Fredericksburg.
We didn’t hear about any local birthdays this week. Theresa Reynolds’ is today, but she doesn’t live in Castleton. Mike McCaffrey’s was Tuesday, but he doesn’t even live in Rappahannock. Still, we hope all their wishes come true. For, as Aunt Michele repeats frequently, “If swallows fly high, expect fair weather.”
