Bill Flippo, manager of Central Telephone’s Front Royal office, acknowledged that the utility serving Rappahannock telephone customers in Washington, Flint Hill and Huntly has been affected by the strike, even though all of its operators are still at their switchboards. “Ther^ are no CenTel workers oh strike but in this area, we rely on Bell Systems for operator assistance.” The first few days of the strike, customers trying to reach information or make an operator assisted call sometimes faced a wait of several minutes, he noted.
