Free Theater Workshop
A free theater workshop “Collective Creation from Improvization to Performance,” will be held in the Gay Street Theater, Washington, on Sunday and Monday, August 28 and 29, from 1-5 p.m.
The workshop, sponsored by RAAC’s Voices of Rappahannock, will be led by Deborah Quinn, associate artistic director of Stageworks Touring Company.
Participants should dress comfortably and come with a story from Rappahannock's history or from thier own family’s history.
Big Band Concert
A concert of big band music will be presented as a fund raiser for the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival on Sunday, September 4, at 7 p.m. at the Hotel Pavilion in Orkney Springs.
Music of the 1930s and '40s will be performed by the Big Band All Stars under the direction of Dr. George West who was an arranger for the Woody Herman Band and played trombone with the Kay Wending Jazz Ensemble and Guy Lombardo’s Orchestra. The 16-piece band will be joined by Flower Jasmine, a vocal group that sings in the style made famous by the Pied Pipers.
