Fauquier, Loudoun Rappahannock are* counties where the deer are considered near or above the carrying capacity of the range, and the Commission has received complaints of crop damage. Anterless deer .were legal the final 12 days of the 1983-84 season in those counties, and hunters were allowed two does in their season limit of two.
Many serious hunters object to anterless hunting, but in an age when the deer no longer has natural predators to control its numbers hunting is considered the best solution.
A square mile of good range will support 20 to 25 deer, and when the numbers begin to top that, all kinds of
