8'/-xll paper; however, neatly handwritten entries will be accepted. Each entry should include the author’s name, age, grade, home address and telephone number; the name and address of the author’s high school; and the signature of a sponsoring English teacher.

High schools are encouraged to submit all the student entries in one envelope.

Entries should be mailed to: Poetry Contest, do English Department, 124 Williams Hall, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, 24061. Address all inquiries to Joyce Smoot, contest coordinator, at that address.

To receive copies of the winning poems and judge’s comments, include an 8 '/-x 11 manuscript-sized, self-addressed envelope with 40 cents postage.

Students should retain copies of their poems, as. the contest coordinators will be unable to return or acknowledge receipt of entries because of the volume of entries involved. Deadline for entering is March 15; winners will be notified in April.
