However, Clark argued that it would be unduly restrictive to enforce the new specifications on her before the ordinance is actually changed. The board for the sign was specially ordered, and is already cut and drawn. “It seems unfair to be treated by what might be in the future,” she said. She said she wanted her application judged by what’s in the ordinance now, adding that she’s willing to return in a year or two if the ordinance changes and apply for a new sign then.
Since Clark will be leasing the sign site on a yearto-year basis, the board felt it would be a fair compromise to approve the permit for one year.
