Also on the Republican side, Jim Hobgood, administrative aide to the retiring seventh district congressman, announced that he is at the “actively interested stage” regarding possible candidacy. “But I haven’t made a final decision. Hobgood, 32, has been Robinson’s aide for nine years. He was graduated from the University of Virginia in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree and in 1975, earned a master’s degree in government and foreign affairs. Along with Barry Parkhill, he was co-captain of the 1973 Wahoos basketball team.
