Citizens Group To Meet
The Rappahannock Citizens for Quality Education will meet on Wednesday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. at The Child Care and Learning Center. The Center is located on Route 626, one-half mile east of Washington. For directions or further information, call Camille Harris, 675-3757, evenings or Barney O'Meara at 987-8271.
Parents, teachers, school personnel, and citizens are encouraged to attend.
Ladies Auxiliary To Meet
The Sperryville Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Monday, February 6, at 7 p.m. at the fire hall.
President Marie Atkins urges all members to be present as plans and activities for the coming year will be discussed.
Historical Society Meeting
The Rappahannock Historical Society has postponed the regularly scheduled quarterly meeting from February 3 to Friday, March 9. It is hoped that better weather will enable us to hold the meeting at the Society’s building on Gay Street.
We will at that time have another “Show and Tell” session when members will bring in items of historical interest to explain to other members. Also Helen Holschuh, the society’s Historian and Cathy Knuepfer, the Society’s Librarian will bring members up to date on recent aquisitions. „
Anyone may belong to the Rappahannock Historical Society. Dues are $5.00 a year per family and can be sent to Mrs. Byrd Jones, Treasurer, Washington, Va.

RAAC Film
On Friday, Feb. 3, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. Picnic At Hanging Rock will be shown with Rachel Roberts, Anne Lambert, Dominic Guard. Set in Australia in 1900, this film deals with the morality of trying to impose one culture on another. Roberts is the headmistress of an English girls’ school in the outback of Australia, and during an outing, the mistress and some of her charges mysteriously dissappear.
This film will be shown at the Gay St. Theater in Washington, Va. Admission is $2.50 for RAAC members and $3 for others.
Jazz Concert
The U.S. Air Force Tactical Command Jazz Ensemble will present a free concert on Wednesday, February 8, in Armstrong Auditorium at Winchester’s Shenandoah College and Conservatory at 8:30 p.m.
The 19-member band, led by Senior Master Sergeant Dick Perry, blends today’s contemporary sounds with the swing of the big band era. The program will range from the traditional jazz sounds of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller to hits by Neil Diamond and Willie Nelson.
