Students jump in teams of six, with sponsors pledging donations by the minute. Each kid can take time out, but “somebody has to be jumping the whole time” and the team keeps going three hours. That’s 180 minutes. Having pledged a penny a minute, the sponsor would owe $1.80. At 2? the sponsors pay $3.60, at 30, $5.40 and so on.
Naturally the sponsors don’t pay until after the jump rope-a-thon is held and they see how long their team lasted. The kids have two weeks to collect afterwards.
