Paying officials takes an increasingly bigger bit out of the sports budget, Toth continued. It costs approximately $?5 per game for baseball officials, $105-$120 for basketball, he said. “Our money can’t be better spent than on our young people, but it’s kind of frustrating when so much of it goes for officials—who deserve it, of course,” he added.

Sports equipment is also expensive. As one example Toth pointed to a basketball which was purchased IV2 years ago. The one basketball cost $72, he said.

The 15 new girls’ basketball uniforms cost approximately $450, Toth said.

The new basketball suits will go to the varsity team. The old varsity uniforms will be passed down to the junior varsity, Toth said. The situations suits everyone.
