Washington Town Council received a request from Trinity Episcopal Church representatives last Wednesday, February 8, likely to spur work on the new zoning ordinance.
Plans to expand the parish hall were presented by junior warden Henry C. Sutherland and vestryman Joe Sherman. An addition to the front of the existing parish hall would add an area measuring 21*3* by 25’5”, according to the drawings. The Gay Street side of the building would be in line with the front of the church proper.
The entrance in the center of the front would remain as it is with a courtyard between the two parts of the building. The outside of the addition would be styled to ressemble the rest of the church, which was built prior to 1851, according to the application.
The side set-back of the parish hall is currently three feet. A variance is needed to extend the room along its present lines since the ordinance requires 15 feet setback.
