Answering a question from Diane Bruce, Miller said it could take as long to amend the present ordinance to provide for appointment of a Board of Zoning Appeals as it would take to adopt the new code.
The regional planning District Commission had delivered a draft of the proposed town zoning ordinance the week before, Miller noted. He said he spent three hours reviewing it on Sunday, February 5, but felt it needed to be “modified to suit the town.”
Miller described the draft proposal for four zones within the tow n of Washington as “a bit much.” (The district planners had proposed four district types: R1 limited residential, R-2 general residential, C-l commercial village center and C-2 general commercial.)
