World Hunger
Garden Project
The problem of hunger in the world is a multi-faceted one including politics, economics, education and money just to name a few, according to Rev. Steven N. Scoggin, pastor of Washington Baptist Church. As a way of responding to this problem a “World Hunger Garden Project” is being organized for the summer.
Anyone interested in learning more about this community centered project is invited to an organizational meeting set for next Thursday, February 23, 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Baptist Church. Those who cannot attend but are interested in participating should call Rev. Scoggin at 675-3833. This “project” is open to all ages.
SperryviUe Club Organizing
The SperryviUe Community 4-H Club will hold its organizational meeting on February 20 at 7 p.m. in the firehall.
Members will be able to choose from hundreds of possibilities for 4-H projects: adventure with your camera, let’s start a business, entomology, wildlife, to buy or not to buy, wheels, small engines and woodworking, just to name a few of the possibilities. A suprise is planned for the February 20 meeting and all youngsterte from the Spen*yVille area are invited to attend.

Youngsters ages 9 to 19 are invited to share the fun in the 4-H Share-The-Fun competition on Friday, February 24, at 3:20 p.m. in the elementary school gym. Kids can compete individually or in groups in five different categories. For more information, call Florence Vickers at the Extension Office in Washington, 675-3619.
New Club Forming
A new 4-H community club is organizing in SperryviUe. membership is open to all young people, ages 9 to 19, in the SperryviUe area. The first meeting will be held at the firehall on Monday, February 20, at 7 p.m.
Puppet Show Set
On Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2:30, RAAC is sponsoring a treat for children of all ages: The Bob Brown Puppet Show will perform “The Fool, The Ghul and Clever Carmelita” at the Gay St.’ Theater in Wash., Va. These are folk tales from Cambodia, Iran and Peru. Admission is $2 (Children) and $3 (Adults) for RAAC members and $3 (Children) and $4 (Adults) for others. (This has been rescheduled due to snow days).
