The Panthers got back on the winning track at home Monday night, going head to head with a familiar race as they downed Jim Logan’s Luray Bulldogs. Playing against the former RCHS coach gave the Panthers the incentive they needed to muzzle the Bulldogs.
The visitors took it to the Panthers early. After Tom Sisk gave Rapp its only first quarter lead with a flurry of outside jumpers, the Bulldogs picked away at the Panthers’ defense, directed by Logan who used his knowledge of the RCHS players. Rappahannock’s trig men had trouble working the ball through the Orange circle and at the other end of the court, they were being caught flatfooted. The combination gave Luray an 8-18 lead at the end of the first quarter. The fans in the bleachers were quiet. After the visitors upped the lead to 20-8, the RCHS boys decided they’d had enough. They erupted with eight unanswered points, leaving the Bulldogs shellshocked with a lead cut to four. The fans began to stir.
