The Reverend and Mrs. Edward T. Wines recently spent a few days in Oakland, Md., which is in the colder, northwestern part of the state. They used to reside there, and Reverend Wines had to preach a funeral last Friday at his former church, the Sand Flat Assembly of God. It was nice weather, and they eiyoyed seeing their old friends but were very sad and shocked by the sudden death of a dear friend. Reverend Wines is supervisor for the security guards at Pinkerton in Culpeper County. Our deepest sympathy to the Wine’s on the loss of their friend.
Want to decorate your house with pumpkins?? Yes?? This correspondent found a lovely lady on Massie’s Corner last Sunday afternoon selling pretty, orange pumpkins for $.50 each. That’s right, only $.50. And the lady turned out to be Rappahannock’s Jaycee President, Patricia Vest of Washington. She’s the first woman president for the Jaycee’s in Virginia. They are selling pumpkins as one of their many fundraisers, and the proceeds will be used for a worthy cause in our county.
