When was the last time you were in grandma’s attic? If it’s been too long, now may be the time for a stop at Washington Antiques and Upholstery-where yesterday can relive today.
The quaint shop, located on Warren Avenue near the Black Kettle Motel and Restaurant, offers the would-be rummager rows and rows of vintage gowns, hats, coats and shoes from early 1900’s on. According to owner/operator Moregan Zale, the shop may be the perfect place to get ready for Halloween-with the help of someone who knows what people would’ve worn way back when.
“I have lots of ideas and I want to help people get ready for Halloween,” says Zale, who has been in the Washington location for two years. She adds that, this Halloween, she can costume a person classy, sexy, elegant, punk, turn of the century, 60’s, 60’s and more. She recalls a woman who stopped by who “just fit” into the Victorian era after trying on some fashion from the period. “I never thought I’d wear something like that, but....”
